Best Rich Snippets And Schema WordPress Plugins

Are you looking for the best WordPress schema plugin to help you display rich snippets in Google Search?

Whether you review products, publish recipes, run a local business or you’re a content publisher – rich snippets can help you boost click-through rates from Google Search.

In this post, you’ll find a bunch of WordPress plugins that make complicated schema markup easy to add.

This means you won’t have to mess around with any code.

At the end, I’ll cover some recommendations for specific use cases and answer some common questions about schema markup.

Let’s get started:

The best WordPress schema plugins compared

1. Schema Pro

Schema Pro

Schema Pro is an all-in-one schema plugin, meaning it offers support for more than just the standard, run-of-the-mill schema types. It’s made by Brainstorm Force, the same team behind the Astra WordPress theme.

Here are some of its top features:

  • Supports 13 schema types
  • No coding required
  • Supports all post types
  • Supports custom fields
  • Includes filters for additional fields
  • Clean code that meets Google’s guidelines

The way the plugin works is simple. You start by selecting the type of schema you’d like to add to your site. Next up is choosing your target(s), meaning the types of posts you’d like to add the schema type to as well as the individual posts and pages you want to add the schema type to.

It’s just a matter of mapping existing content with schema markup after that. This includes your title, author, date, category and featured image. You’ll configure these with a few simple clicks. You can even add custom fields.

A few of the standard schema types this plugin supports include reviews, recipes, articles, videos and products. These are rich snippets you’re already used to seeing in Google.

The local business schema type allows you to optimize your business for Google with rich snippets for your business name and address, website URL, phone number, ratings, prices, and more. The information will appear in Google’s knowledge panel for local businesses.

The person schema type can help you build notoriety for yourself or prominent individuals in your business. The rich snippets this schema type generates include your name, photograph, job title and website URL.

The information appears in the people knowledge panel you’re used to seeing on the right-hand side of search results.

Price: Plans start at $79/year or $249 for a lifetime license.

2. WP Review Pro

WordPress Review Plugin

Despite its name, WP Review Pro is another plugin that offers rich snippets for a number of different schema types, well beyond reviews. It does specialize in them, however.

It’s made by MyThemeShop, and its top features include:

  • Supports 14 schema types
  • No coding required
  • Pre-defined templates for reviews
  • Multiple rating systems
  • User comments and ratings
  • Compatible with any WordPress theme
  • Support for Google reviews, Facebook reviews and Yelp
  • Woocommerce integration
  • Clean code optimized for Google

As far as schemas go, this plugin offers numerous review-related rich snippets. These include snippets for movies, books, games, music, products and software. You’ll also enjoy snippets for recipes and things like places (local businesses), websites and articles.

As I stated before, this plugin is mainly designed for reviews. It allows you to create review cards for posts and even comes with over a dozen templates for these cards, giving you plenty of options to choose from no matter your theme.

You also have multiple options when it comes to how your ratings are displayed. Your options are stars, points, percentages, thumbs up/down and animated circles.

Price: Plans start at $77 for a single site license. This license comes with one year of support and updates, at which point you’ll need to purchase an additional year for a smaller fee.

A membership plan is available as well along with a free version of the plugin.

3. Schema App Structured Data

Schema App

Schema App Structured Data is a freemium schema tool that’s compatible with WordPress. Its WordPress plugin and premium version come with the following features:

  • Generate schema markup for basic data
  • Google site structure in results
  • Customization of markup for advanced users
  • Support for more advanced schema types
  • Video snippets for YouTube
  • Woocommerce integration
  • Wiki data integration
  • Review widget
  • Custom post and field mapping

Getting started with this plugin involves installing and activating the free version. This version will add basic rich snippets to your content automatically.

This includes markup for posts, pages, authors, categories, tags and breadcrumbs.

The premium version extends this functionality. You can add rich snippets based on different schema types. This includes markup for local businesses, organizations, services, reviews, your contact page and more.

Unfortunately, WooCommerce integration isn’t something this tool offers right out of the box nor does it come with your membership. You’ll be required to purchase the integration as an extension that costs $47/year at minimum.

Once you do purchase the extension, you’ll have access to more than twice the amount of schema data the plugin generates by default. You’ll also have access to pricing variations, item conditions and product variations.

You’ll also receive guidance on how to approach the implementation of schema on your site in a variety of different ways. This includes a health check that monitors the quality of your markup. You’ll also have access to a support manager.

Price: You can get started with this plugin for free. Premium plans start at $30/month.

4. WPSSO Core

WPSSO Core

WPSSO Core is an SEO plugin that gives you access to advanced meta tags and schema markup for general SEO, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and more.

Here are its best features:

  • Generates meta tags and schema markup from existing content
  • Provides complete information to social platforms, search engines and messaging apps
  • Supports multiple schema types
  • Quality assurance included
  • Supports amp and amp WordPress plugins
  • Supports WordPress multisite
  • Customize default values customizable
  • Integration with multiple third-party plugins

As soon as you activate the plugin, it’ll read your pages and posts and generate schema markup from titles, descriptions, product information and more. It’ll even generate rich snippets for recipes and reviews, though you’ll need to upgrade to the premium version to gain access to the complete list of rich snippets for some schema types.

As far as quality assurance goes, the plugin will check for minimum and maximum image dimensions and aspect ratios, missing and required images, duplicate meta tags, and incorrect or missing HTML markup and PHP modules.

The premium version offers an extensive list of features, many of which simply extend on the features of the free version.

Price: You can get started with this plugin for free. Pricing for the premium version starts at $59 for a single site license. Free and premium extensions are available as well.

5. All in One Schema Rich Snippets

All In One Schema

All in One Schema Rich Snippets is a simple rich snippets plugin made by the same developer who made the first plugin on our list, Schema Pro. However, these plugins are not connected, at least not directly.

Here’s what this one offers:

  • Support for 8 schema types
  • No coding required
  • Easy setup and configuration

This is the simplest rich snippets plugin on this list, but it still supports every major schema type. This includes the ones you’re used to, such as reviews, products and recipes.

However, you’ll be delighted to know it also supports articles, events, people, software applications and videos.

Unfortunately, the plugin doesn’t add schema markup to your site automatically. You’ll be required to do this manually with the meta box it adds to the WordPress editor.

You’re encouraged to purchase Schema Pro if you want automation. In fact, more than half of the Rich Snippets dashboard is dedicated to advertising the premium plugin.

As for the free version, the way it works is simple. You’ll start by navigating to the edit page of the page or post you want to add markup to. From there, you’ll use the meta box to choose the schema type you’d like to add to that page.

The settings in the meta box will switch over to the different fields you can add markup for based on the schema type you chose. Unfortunately, there’s no automation here, either. Each field is filled with dummy text you’re required to edit manually.

The plugin does integrate with WooCommerce, but it recommends not using it as it’ll duplicate the schema markup WooCommerce has by default.

What is the best WordPress schema plugin for you?

All of these plugins add schema markup to your site in one way or another.

Let’s talk about the major differences between them so you can make an informed decision on which one to go with.

While we’re at it, be sure to check out our post on the best WordPress SEO plugins you can add to your site. Each of them will help you manage SEO overall.

Which rich snippets plugins are best for sites solely focused on reviews?

For those who run sites that publish reviews frequently or those who want to better optimize reviews for SEO, then WP Review Pro is your best option. Their features are relatively similar, the only main difference is the price.

Need a rich snippets plugin with a variety of supported schema types?

As far as supported schema types go, WP Review Pro and Schema Pro excel in this department, both having 12+ supported schema types.

Even though All in One Schema Rich Snippets is a free rich snippets plugins, it still offers 8 schema types which is ideal if you want a free rich snippets plugin.

Do you need a rich snippets plugin that has automation?

When it comes to automation, Schema Pro may be your best option even it’s not the most cost-effective solution. It doesn’t offer a free version, so all of its features are at your disposal as soon as you purchase and activate it.

The other plugins start with free versions that offer limited features. This either comes in the form of incomplete schema markup that requires the premium version to complete or auto-generated markup you aren’t able to edit with the free version.

The only plugin that doesn’t offer some form of automation is All in One Schema Rich Snippets. This plugin is best suited for sites that only need markup on a few select pages.

Want a rich snippets plugin that is effective but free?

The last factor to consider is price. The most cost-effective solutions are All in One Schema Rich Snippets, WPSSO Core and WP Review Pro. All in One Schema Rich Snippets, while tedious, is entirely free to use.

WPSSO Core offers quite a lot of features in its free version. If you need more than what the free version has to offer, all you’ll need to do is pay a single moderate fee for a license and copy of the premium version. Support and updates are free forever after that.

WP Review Pro works in a similar way, only you’ll be required to pay a fee for every additional year of support and updates you need. Fortunately, this is available at a smaller fee than what you’ll pay for the license to begin with.

Final thoughts on schema plugins

Using schema markup to display rich snippets is a great way to make your organic listings in Google stand out more.

If you’ve implemented schema and they aren’t displaying in Google yet, there may be a few reasons for this.

Firstly, Google may not have indexed your changes. Secondly, there could be an error with your markup. You can use Google’s Structured Data Testing tool to find errors.
