3. Zoom reached 300 million daily meeting participants in April of 2020

In an article published to the company’s news blog at the start of the global COVID-19 lockdown, Zoom announced its platform had reached 300 million daily meeting participants after a huge surge in usage.

As we’re sure you recall, while lockdowns began in March of 2020, when they weren’t lifted within a couple of weeks, it became apparent how grave the situation was.

And so, an alternative way to conduct meetings and hold educational events became necessary. That’s when Zoom stepped in and rose to global popularity.

However, it’s important to note what “meeting participant” means because it does not mean “daily active users” as some were led to believe when this statistic was first published.

If you attend three Zoom meetings in a day, your attendance is counted as three participations.

Therefore, it’s hard to determine how many active users Zoom really had at this time.

Final thoughts

That concludes our list of Zoom user statistics.

We learned quite a few things, including how little workers prepare for virtual meetings in comparison to how they prepare for a day at the office.

More importantly, we learned that although Zoom’s popularity skyrocketed during the pandemic, its use and dominance is staggering.

While it’s still reporting positive earnings, its earnings rate has declined quite a bit.

Even so, the platform is becoming more popular as a VoIP provider, so be sure to stay tuned as we keep you up to date on this company’s progress.
